REBIRTH OF THE BATH HOUSE LATVIA
SPA RESORT / BATH HOUSE / BOUTIQUE HOTEL
MAY 2014
5000 M² GFA
The area of the seaside park in Liepaja, Latvia, is a popular place for leisure both for local citizens as well as tourists.
The wide beaches attract visitors longing for recreation in the waterside cafés and bars, and nature lovers seeking peace on the coast. The unique natural healing resources available simply call for the development of a new resort and health tourism amenities.

In our concept we reactivate the iconic „Bath House“, built by Paul Max Berchi in 1902, preserving the characteristics of the historical bathrooms.

In addition to the historical Bath House, which is open for daily visitors as well as hotel residents, we have designed a transparent and light building with huge glass fronts docking the Bath House in a respectful way. The draft of this organic shaped building reminds the observer of a sea shell. Facilities such as a restaurant, a café, a sun terrace, shops, and the hotel reception and lobby are situated in the building. Floating above that is a long drawn-out concrete construction, the boutique hotel. The hotel houses 20 family apartments, all of them facing the sea.
